manikins in rowBirmingham University will be hosting their annual lifesaving competition on Sat 7 Dec, and Keynsham Life Saving Club plans to enter two teams. The friendly atmosphere of this local competition makes this the perfect introduction to competitive lifesaving. We'll be travelling up together by minibus and we'll ensure that new competitors are led by an experienced team captain, so this event is suitable even for those with no previous competition experience.

Mixed teams of four from local lifesaving clubs and UK Universities will be competing against each other in five different events (See www.ilsf.org/lifesaving-sport/disciplines for a summary of what each event involves):

A Land-based Emergency Incident    A Water-based Emergency Incident
A 12m Rope-Throw Relay Race        A 50m Swim & 50m Tow Relay
A 4 x 25m Manikin Carry Relay Race

If you don’t fancy competing, the competition organisers are always looking for volunteers to act as casualties during the incidents – this is a great way to get involved and see what a competition is like!
