What do we do?

Keynsham Life Saving Club members learn to save lives!

During our weekly training sessions you'll learn how to deal with life-threatening first-aid emergencies such as choking, bleeding and medical shock; and how to help someone who's fallen unconscious or has stopped breathing. You'll also learn specialised water-rescue skills: learning how to keep yourself safe and how to assist swimmers in difficulty.

We offer a range of Royal Lifesaving Society awards, including Rookie Lifeguard (the junior award scheme aimed at children aged 8-12 years) and the Survive and Save programme (aimed at lifesavers aged 12 to Adult). Once you've perfected your own skills, we offer the opportunity to train as an instructor so that you can share your skills with others. The club offers a rolling programme of training so new members can join any time without worrying about missing the start of a course. Once lifesavers reach the required standard we enter them for assessment when they're ready.

Club members also have the opportunity to enter lifesaving competitions at other clubs - this is a great way to practice real-life skills in simulated incidents. We also run open-water trips to the beach and local lakes so that you can put your skills into practice in a real environment.

Who can join?

Everyone is welcome at Keynsham Lifesaving Club: whether you're a complete beginner or an experienced lifeguard! We have a whole range of ages and abilities so you're bound to find a course that suits you. To take part in water-based activities you must be able to swim 100m, but if just want to learn a bit of first aid then this is also the club for you.

How Much Does It Cost?

Training costs £55 per term (typically 10 weeks).

To help us better manage the club, we use an online membership system called WebCollect. This allows you to keep your contact details up-to-date, book events, and pay your subscriptions online.

Follow this link to our WebCollect site where you’ll be able to fill out a membership form and pay your subscription fees.

We encourage all our members to pay by Direct Debit wherever possible - it is simpler for the club and means that you never need to worry about missing a payment. We will notify you at least 3 working days before your next payment is due, and deduct the amount automatically from your account at the start of each term - you don't have to do a thing!

There is a surcharge of 50p to pay by cheque or bank transfer, and unfortunately we are unable to accept cash payments.
